Another Mother's thoughts on sexual orientation and gender identity:

Each of us contains an entire rainbow.  Conscious or subconscious decisions about which colors we filter are not just based on the pressures of society, but also based on what we are taught about love in our families of origin - to what extent we are allowed to be ourselves, to grow, to change, to explore - basically, about how well our basic human rights are honored by those closest to us. If they are, then we have permission to evolve and be authentic and comfortable in our lives, whoever it is we discover ourselves to be. People who have the protection of such a family ultimately might not choose any differently, but our quality of life and self-image are so much greater - we are the fortunate ones.  We hope that those who are less fortunate, who are not born into such a family, will create one of their own.  Please consider us members.

with love and hope,
Another Mother
